Executive Headteacher's Welcome

It is my great privilege, as the Executive Headteacher of Woodmansterne School, to welcome you to the Secondary Phase. This is an exciting time for the school with our first Year 7 pupils having joined us in September 2017. Our Year 7 learners are the pioneers of our all-through education and the realisation of a vision built on a very special partnership between Woodmansterne School, the local community and our children and families.

We will prepare our young people for their future by giving them opportunities to develop as learners and leaders. The Woodmansterne way of behaving, communicating, learning and leading is underpinned by our six core values of Cooperation, Aspiration, Respect, Integrity, Responsibility and Unity. These values embody our ethos and are at the heart of everything we do at Woodmansterne.

We move into our brand new building in 2019 where our new facilities will offer a rich and vibrant learning environment. Spaces will be dynamic, versatile and diverse providing our pupils with full access to a broad curriculum within a culture of achievement. The new building has been carefully designed with the Woodmansterne ethos, vision and curriculum at its heart and will include specialist Science labs, dedicated ICT suites and four MUGAs (Multi-use Games Areas).

Woodmansterne is already an outstanding school. It is a school that provides a secure and happy environment for individual pupils to reach their full potential. We closely monitor progress, both academic and pastoral, and provide support and challenge as appropriate to every pupil?s needs. Ours is a vibrant, successful and happy school where we celebrate our cultural and ethnic diversity. Pupils learn from each other in a spirit of cooperation and respect. We welcome pupils of all abilities and take pride in developing academic achievement, a sense of responsibility, confidence and aspiration. We believe pupils learn best when support and encouragement comes from a genuine partnership between school and home.

I look forward to welcoming you and your child into Woodmansterne Secondary Phase and to providing your child with an outstanding education that nurtures their talents, interests and aspirations to ensure that they meet their full potential. I know that together we will deliver a rich experience that will develop our Secondary Phase pupils into happy, aspiring and successful young adults who are ready to take their rightful place in the world.
